I just got back from u. village to shop at Banana Republic. I'm so close to reaching the luxe status so I shopped 'enough' to make sure I'm there. Then I decided to go to GAP, just to see what they have. I was surprised to see the display on the first floor. Some of the mannequins were shirtless and the clothes were interesting. As I went up the escalator, I could see a big red board. It's (RED)!!! I just heard about it this morning on TV.
"(RED) was created by Bono and Bobby Shriver, Chairman of DATA to raise awareness and money for The Global Fund by teaming up with the world's most iconic brands to produce (PRODUCT)RED branded products. A percentage of each (PRODUCT)RED product sold is given to The Global Fund. The money helps women and children affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa." See the website www.joinred.com, it's interesting....
Bono was on Oprah today to spread the news about RED. I'm catching the rerun in 30 min :) I bought one shirt, which is the Inspired one, just like the picture. There are bo(red), desi(red), and hamme(red). I like the desired color but umm... maybe not... and inspired is in 'red' so... Hihi I'm contributing something to help the people in Africa. By the way, is it me or Bono looks like Robert de Niro ever since he shortened his hair? Another cool thing I found at GAP was a picture book filled with celebrity pictures, posing for GAP commercial. It's nice...
Ah... it feels so good to shop.

I like the inspired shirt. very red. very cool. bet it looks good on you. which is probably why you bought it :p
that's really cool that they're doing the campaign like this. makes me want to shop now. lol
Actually I bought it because I want to contribute something to project red. But when I tried it on, I was surprised that the shirt actually has a good cutting. If you've seen (red) website, they mention that this is a business not a charity. They don't want to be an organization that ask people for money. (red) wants consumer to buy the product that they actually like. (red) gets the money - consumer helps people in Africa get HIV pills. They think outside the box. That's for sure :)
Yes ver I have been reading about the campaign for some time ago. I think it's a very smart idea and I really like it. I admire Bono and whoever his friends that come up with the One organization. They are the ones behind the Band Aid Campaign and all other things. They make it "cool" to donate and help other people.
It adds little bonus to the essence of donating. Donating is like give and take... you give something and cames the satisfaction and happiness with it... and now you get to be cool coz Brad Pitt, George Clooney are doing the same thing like you.
And of course, giving you a reason to shop ;)
